Space To Screen Work
Here are a few of the pictures I took for the Space and Screen project.
I painted my display in rich reds and yellows, a direct throwback to Art Deco Cinema. Many art deco interiors often used rich or expensive paints, wallpapers and fabric. A lot of gold was often used on metal. I would have liked to paint the yellow parts a little more gold to fit in with this, but due to time constraints, I didn't get to execute my second gold coat.
I decided to weather the pieces a little, and this inspiration came from pictures of the interior of the Athenaeum Building itself, which was my location. The inside of the building had fallen into disrepair (Unknown if it is still rundown), and instead of making a clean shiny box, I decided to show it some wear and tear. The Athenaeum has seen the effects of wear and tear, but in the form of laughter, joy and sorrow in both music and movie form.
Here are some pictures of the exhibition in full swing.
